KCEA Welcomes Emma Tago
We are excited to share that Emaquilate (Timpiyian) Tago has officially joined the MCESP/KCEA staff team as Assistant Education Development Officer. Emma began her role at the beginning of July and is already bringing her energy and expertise to the work ahead.
Emma is a graduate of the KCEA sponsorship program from 2016 to 2019. During that time she actively participated in the life skills workshops, where she helped mentor students on career development, digital literacy, and personal growth. She also engaged in advocacy efforts to discourage early marriages, joining protests and community awareness campaigns to empower young girls through education. Additionally, she contributed to educational writings and content development, supporting KCEA’s mission of equipping youth with essential life skills.
After graduating from secondary school, Emma discovered her passion for information technology while volunteering at a local youth center where she helped set up and maintain computers. Her curiosity grew as she began to teach herself how to code, which led her to apply to the Multimedia University of Kenya. She received her BSc in Computer Technology in November 2024 from the Multimedia University of Kenya, one of the strong software training universities in Kenya. Emma has worked in both corporate tech environments and academic research roles — experience that has equipped her to think critically, lead creatively, and work collaboratively. She has used her technical skills to build educational websites, develop mobile apps that support student learning, and create simple, user-friendly databases to help organizations manage information more effectively.
Emma is a skilled software engineer, technology educator, and community advocate. She brings to KCEA a deep understanding of KCEA’s mission, combined with technical expertise. Emma brings with her not just technical excellence, but also a strong foundation in proposal writing, report development, and financial analysis — skills she developed through her work and her strong commitment to community development..
In her new role at KCEA, Emma will work alongside John Keshe to support and expand educational programs for local communities. Her key responsibilities will include:
- Improving the organization of information on the KCEA program and on each student.
- Designing and managing community-based education initiatives
- Supporting training and capacity-building among youth and women's groups
- Assisting in the implementation of IT solutions for education development
- Collecting and analyzing data to assess impact and inform programming
For example, in the next few months, one of Emma's primary tasks will be to help develop the Nkoisuash Community Recreation Hall education plan, including setting up a digital resource center with learning tablets and coordinating lesson timetables that cater to youth, women, and out-of-school learners. The center will also act as a primary location for the women beadwork project; the osaeni women's group will use it to make and display their ornaments.
We are confident that Emma's unique blend of tech, research, and heart-centered leadership will be a major asset to our mission. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to the MCESP/KCEA family!
[KCEA is so grateful for the generosity of a wonderful KCEA supporter couple, whose donations make possible hiring Emma to augment the many things that John Keshe already does].
