CROSSROADS’ 2025 VISIT TO NKOISUASH
Crossroads Christian Church again organized a wonderful visit to Kenya hosted by John Keshe's local organization and KCEA. An energetic and loving group of 33 Crossroads' members and staff shared in the joy, work and education of five days in the Maasai Mara; (Related blogs PARTNERSHIP and SCHOOL ).
The trip's special significance to KCEA is the building of relationships between KCEA students and their Crossroads' sponsors. A time was set aside on the first day for Crossroads team members who sponsor students to meet with their students and families. This was a joyous and memorable time. The team member was presented a gift from the family, and in return each team member provided a parcel of food and essentials to give to the sponsor family, along with an opportunity to visit with the family. Over the next several days, team members learned more about the community and about new students needing sponsorship for the next year.. Then there was a very special time celebrating 12 NEW sponsorships by Crossroads team members. Many team members will now be sponsoring multiple students with a heart to help empower the girls with a future of hope for obtaining education goals and life opportunities.
The Crossroads team also hosted many engaging and fun activities with students at the Nkoisuash Primary School. On one day it was with the younger students, including singing, crafts, art fun, puppets and playing games outside along with enjoying a snack together. The next day included time with the older students in a fun and energizing "color run" coordinated by the Crossroads team and supported with community members participation on a circular track field with the students running around being sprayed with colored powder on their white shirts. There was also an enthusiastic soccer match. These VBS activities were a great success with lots of smiles of joy and laughter shared with the students, school staff and Crossroads team.
The Crossroads team also engaged deeply in service and spiritual activities. They led medical clinics on two days triaging and treating 85 community members and children with ailments that needed medical attention and support. They worshipped and praised God together in church with the Maasai community; fellowship with the Maasai community continued another day with home visits including gifts, prayer, comfort and encouragement.
Finally, the Crossroads’ team got to celebrate progress in the Beadwork project emerging from the partnership with Crossroads Christian Church with the Maasai women having amazing skill in beadwork. This project will be the subject of a future blog.
